Myth in the excavations of contemporary poetic discourse Between the richness of heritage and the metaphors of modernity

Abstract

Arabic poetry has always relied on forming mythical structures drawn from ancient human civilizations. This is not, of course, merely a matter of reminiscing about bygone eras or imitating the early stages of human history with its primitive thought and rich cultural rituals. Rather, it is about activating the alternative poem that leans on mythology in order to establish discursive patterns that transcend the dictates of time and use the stories that mythology has produced as a means to express the poet's existential visions and narratives that contradict the historical and political truths that the Arab audience claims to be absolutely certain of. The process of invoking and floating the myth in the excavations of discourse is an extremely complex operation that requires the creator to be well-versed in the foundational and heritage roots of the myth on one hand, and to restore its civilizational frameworks on the other. This is in order to incorporate it into the poem's structure, yielding to an emergent creative stance that necessitates veiling instead of appearing, borrowing instead of elaborating. Therefore, our research paper aspires to uncover the myth and the mechanisms of its modeling in the excavations of contemporary Arabic poetic discourse.
