Complaints and Appeals Handling Policy

The Al-Nahda Scientific Journal of Sebha Open University adopts a policy for handling complaints and appeals based on the principles of confidentiality, impartiality, and prompt resolution to ensure the quality of scientific publishing.

 Procedures and Mechanisms

Submitting a Complaint:  Complaints should typically be submitted via the journal's official email address or to the Editor-in-Chief. The complaint must include clear information, namely the complainant's name and contact details, the exact title of the research or subject of the complaint (e.g., objection to an editorial decision, plagiarism, unjustified delay), a detailed description of the issue, and the desired outcome of the complaint (e.g., review, clarification).

 Complaint Handling Mechanism

  1. Acknowledgment: An acknowledgment of receipt of the complaint shall be sent within one week of its submission.
  2. Investigation: The complaint is referred to the Editorial Board or the Editor-in-Chief for investigation, conducted with complete confidentiality and impartiality.
  3. Timeframe: A final response will typically be sent within 30 days. Some complaints may take longer to resolve, depending on their complexity.

Types of Complaints and Handling Procedures

  1. Objections to Editorial Decisions: If an author believes that a rejection decision was unfair, the file will be reviewed by other reviewers.
  2. Plagiarism Complaints: Such complaints are investigated thoroughly. If the complaint is substantiated, it may lead to the retraction of the article.
  3. Administrative Complaints (Delay): These are addressed by reviewing the editorial schedule and following up on the status of the manuscript.

Appeals

Authors have the right to file an appeal against final publication decisions if the outcome is unsatisfactory.

Core Principles of Handling

  • Confidentiality: All parties involved in the complaint shall be treated with complete confidentiality to ensure impartiality.
  • Professionalism: Responses must be objective and based on documented evidence.
  • Note: Complaints must be submitted in writing, accompanied by all supporting evidence, and the response shall be followed up through the journal's official channels.
